1960 The first instance where the term "keratocojunctivitis sicca"was discussed in Review.

1966
A preliminary discussion of the clinical signs and symptoms of dry eye disease.

1977
A summarized conclusion from one of the first studies that evaluated the potential clinical utility of tear film break-up time (TFBUT) in the diagnosis of dry eye.

1989
An early discussion of the potential benefit of punctal occlusion in patients with recurrent dry eye.

1992 One of the first articles published in Review that explored the relationship between dry eye and several underlying systemic conditions.

2001 An early assertion that dry eye disease definitely has an inflammatory component that could be managed with cyclosporine. (Published more than a year before Restasis [Allergan] gained FDA approval.)
