Although “John Murphy’s Blog” is factually correct, it lacks panache. It lacks excitement. Like its author, it’s not very memorable.

But my lame name can be your claim to fame. Here’s your chance to be not only the person who gives this blog a better name, but you’ll win a valuable Major Award!

Are you up to the challenge? Sure you are. You’re smart. You’re clever. You can come up with a novel, inventive name (like you did with “Family Eyecare.” Good work!)

Just log in below and enter your idea as a comment. You can enter as many times as you want. The winner will be decided by an august Panel of Judges (including myself and the lady who waters the plants here in my office).

You can enter something eye-related … Something like “A View Askew,” or perhaps “An Eye on the Scene” … but, you know, something much more clever than either of those.

How about “Vitreous Humor” or (my personal favorite so far) “My Own Private EYE-daho”?

The winner will receive an authentic REVIEW OF OPTOMETRY coffee mug! It’s like a piece of magazine history. This valuable mug has been sitting on a window sill for several years, just waiting for a special person like you to give it a warm, loving home. It is emblazoned with the hard-to-find, “classic” REVIEW logo (no longer available). And you can pick from one of two eye-catching colors—the stunning cobalt blue with gunmetal blue logo, or the handsome ecru with copper logo. You decide!

You’re sure to impress your patients, your clients and your colleagues with this one-of-a-kind mug. It makes any hot beverage taste better. It makes any cold beverage more refreshing. Display it alongside your other awards. Use it as a penholder on your desk. Or, it makes the perfect Christmas/Hanukkah/Festivus gift for that someone special. It has a million and one uses!

Don’t delay. Hurry! Enter the contest now! The deadline is December 18! It’s time for you to make this blog your own!

John - I'd suggest "Murphy's Law", but I gotta figure someone else has come up with that already. If not, then I'd recommend you call it "Nobody But Al Kabat Reads This Blog".

"The Ocular Spasm". If you use it, YOU keep the mug, OK John?
