A patient comes to you because she is unhappy with the treatment received from one of your colleagues in your town. The patient has a red painful eye, which your colleague has been treating for a little over a week.
Your colleague made the initial diagnosis of iritis and started the patient on Pred Forte. Despite the patient calling the doctor and complaining about worsening pain, that doctor, who was out of town and talked to her over the phone, advised the patient to stay the course.
Today you see a large dendrite on the cornea.
What do you say to the patient? Do you say anything to your colleague? What do you do?
