An eleven-year-old girl comes to your practice with a desire for contact lenses. She is an extremely high myope (-19.00D) with reduced vision in one eye secondary to myopic degeneration.
Her retinal specialist counseled her against contact lens wear due to the risks of contact lens-related complications. But, when wearing contact lenses, her vision improves by two lines from the increased image size.
This child wants contact lenses more than anything, and you believe she could handle them well. But, her parents are concerned.
